As the Florida sun begins to hold its position a little longer in the sky and the humidity reminds us why we call this the Sunshine State, June has officially arrived at MB Sports Academy. This month marks a significant transition for our student-athletes. The school year has wrapped up, the pressure of final exams has faded, and the focus has shifted entirely toward summer growth, skill refinement, and the pure joy of competition.
It has been a whirlwind spring season, and as we look ahead to the summer months, we have some of the biggest announcements in our academy’s history to share. From stepping onto the pitch with Major League Soccer to entering the digital arena of competitive gaming, MB Sports Academy is expanding its horizons to ensure our athletes have every opportunity to succeed, both on and off the field.
Goal! MLS GO Soccer Launches at Edgewood Ranch Academy
We are thrilled to officially announce that MB Sports Academy is now an official partner of MLS GO! This is a massive milestone for our soccer program and for the families in Central Florida looking for a high-quality, professional, yet accessible youth soccer experience.
MLS GO is Major League Soccer’s premier youth recreation program, designed specifically for children ages 4-14. Unlike traditional travel ball, which can often feel like a full-time job for both parents and players, MLS GO focuses on fun, fundamental development, and the excitement of the game.

Why MLS GO?
The beauty of this program lies in its "small-sided" game philosophy. By playing 3v3, 4v4, or 7v7 (depending on age), every child gets more touches on the ball, more opportunities to score, and more time spent actually playing rather than standing on the sidelines. This format is essential for building confidence and technical skill at a young age.
We are incredibly excited to host our inaugural MLS GO season at Edgewood Ranch Academy this summer. This location provides a fantastic environment for our young athletes to learn the game under the guidance of our experienced coaching staff, all while wearing official MLS-branded jerseys.
Whether your child is kicking a ball for the first time or looking to refine their skills in a low-pressure, high-fun environment, MLS GO at MB Sports Academy is the place to be. You can learn more about our soccer philosophy and overall training approach on our Holistic Athletic Development page.
Leveling Up: The PlayVS Esports Partnership
At MB Sports Academy, we have always believed that athleticism isn't just about what you can do with your legs or arms, it’s about what you can do with your mind. That is why we are officially partnering with PlayVS to bring competitive esports to our academy.
Esports is one of the fastest-growing competitive landscapes in the world, and for good reason. It requires intense strategy, lightning-fast communication, and a level of teamwork that rivals any traditional sport. By partnering with PlayVS, the leading platform for high school and collegiate esports, we are giving our student-athletes a chance to compete in a digital arena that offers real-world opportunities, including collegiate scholarships.
We see esports as a natural extension of our Academics and athletic programs. In our "Lockhart ESPORTS & Golf" sessions, we’ve already seen how the precision of gaming strategy can translate into the precision needed on the golf course. This partnership allows us to formalize that training, providing a structured environment where gamers can become "student-athletes" in every sense of the word.

A Record-Breaking Spring for Girls Flag Football
If you were near Pershing School K-8 or OCPS ACE K-8 this past April and May, you likely heard the cheers and the sound of flags snapping. Our Spring Girls Flag Football Middle School League was, in a word, spectacular.
We saw record-breaking participation this year, with over 180 middle school girls from across Central Florida taking to the field. The growth of this sport is undeniable, and seeing the level of talent and dedication from these young athletes was the highlight of our spring.

Flag football is more than just a game; it is a platform for building confidence and leadership. Our league focused on NFL Flag rules, ensuring a fast-paced and safe environment for girls to develop their tactical awareness. From the opening snaps in April to the intense playoffs in mid-May, the improvement in team chemistry across all rosters was inspiring.
To every parent, coach, and player who made this season possible: thank you. You are part of a movement that is changing the landscape of youth sports in Florida. If you missed out on the spring season, don't worry, you can keep an eye on future opportunities on our Girls Flag Football page.
Leading by Example: Michael’s PGA Journey
At MB Sports Academy, we don’t just ask our athletes to keep learning; we demand it of ourselves as well. Our CEO, Michael Bonneville, is currently walking the walk by pursuing his PGA Level 1 Instructor certification.
Michael’s journey into the PGA professional ranks is a testament to our commitment to providing top-tier coaching. While we already have a strong partnership with First Tee Golf Central Florida, Michael’s personal pursuit of this certification ensures that our academy stays at the cutting edge of golf instruction.

"Professional growth is a continuous cycle," Michael often says. By deepening his expertise in swing mechanics, course management, and the pedagogy of golf, he is ensuring that every young golfer at MB Sports Academy receives instruction that is both technically sound and emotionally supportive. You can explore our current golf offerings and see how we integrate golf into our multi-sport training on our Golf Services page.
We’re Hiring: Join the MB Sports Academy Coaching Team
With new programs like MLS GO and PlayVS launching, MB Sports Academy is growing faster than ever. To maintain the high standard of mentorship our families expect, we are looking for passionate, dedicated coaches to join our team.
We aren't just looking for people who know the rules of a game. We are looking for mentors who understand our "Huddle Group" philosophy, teaching student-athletes how to face adversity, handle success, and navigate the complexities of life through sports. Whether your background is in soccer, flag football, golf, or strength and conditioning, if you have a heart for developing the next generation, we want to hear from you.
Being a coach at MB is an opportunity to shape lives in a holistic environment that values academic success as much as athletic prowess. If you’re ready to make an impact, please visit our About page to learn more about our mission or reach out directly through our Contact page.

Important Schedule Update: MLB Hit Pitch and Run
We have one piece of "housekeeping" to share regarding our summer schedule. Please note that the MLB Hit Pitch and Run event, which was previously scheduled for June 6th, has been cancelled.
This decision was made due to unexpected field changes and sign-up logistics that would have prevented us from delivering the high-quality experience that Major League Baseball and MB Sports Academy demand. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our baseball and softball families.
While this specific event is off the calendar, our Batting Cages and individual baseball/softball skill sessions are still moving forward. We remain committed to helping our diamond athletes crush their summer goals.
Looking Ahead: A Summer of Growth
June is just the beginning. Between our upcoming Sports Camps and the launch of our new partnerships, the energy at the academy is at an all-time high.
Our goal for this summer is simple: provide every athlete with the tools they need to return to school in the fall stronger, smarter, and more confident than they left. Whether it’s on the grass, on the court, or in the digital arena, we are here to support your journey.
Thank you for being a part of the MB Sports Academy family. Let's make this June a month to remember!
